IMPACT
Water Project is currently serving over 10,0000 people across the Upper East Region of Ghana directly with Clean Drinking water. We largely impact marginalized communities including far to reach nomadic and border communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality, Bongo, Tongo and Bawku West Districts. The Bolgantanga Regional hospital is a beneficiary of the project, which has augmented water supply for healthcare delivery. Our water points in nomadic communities continue to serve not just water but a unifying spot for Fulbes and settled communities. To ensure long-term sustainability and reduce downtime we trained about 105 community members in the maintenance and governance of the water point.
Health Campaign has brought healthcare to several remote communities in the Region. Through collaboration of local health professionals and assistance from volunteer medical professionals and students from Spain, Germany and France, we have successfully screened over 7000 people for prevalent diseases like malaria, diabetes and high blood pressure including cases of HIV, Hepatitis B, Yaws and Malnutrition. We have offered financial assistance to absconded patients and those who cannot afford medical treatment. We also register uninsured patients on the Ghana health Insurance Scheme(NHIS).
Sponsor a Child Project is currently supporting 15 school children from underprivileged families through Lifelong Education support. These children ranging from Basic School through to High School and the University have been matched with devoted sponsors who make monthly financial contributions toward the school fees, essential material like textbooks, exercise books, stipends etc. We have been able to cover the health insurance of these children under the project.
Books For Change Project seeks to achieve a change in the reading habits of children and a successful completion of basic education for advantaged children in Northern Ghana. With support from groups like I BELIEVE IN READING and individuals we are able to donate reading materials to Yikene Basic school and Sumbrungu Primary and Junior high school all in the Upper East region. Reading clubs have been formed to test for the results of the project in these schools which allows voluntary participation of children who come together to read books of their choice during their leisure time (during and after school sessions), teachers have been assigned to supervise these periods and assist them in reading. The project still seeks to reach out to a larger target population as time goes on.
Key/Recent Accomplishments of Organization
Over the past year, Future for Africa has continued to stand beside communities that have long been left behind. In Tonga-Baara, Bongo Feu Kunkua, Saabego, Tambigo, Agigi and Soogo, families who once struggled daily for clean water now wake up to a different reality. With funds raised, we drilled boreholes and maintained that are giving hundreds of women, children, and nomadic households safe water right at their doorstep, turning long, exhausting walks into moments of relief and dignity.
In Kandiga and Zokko, our commitment to community health came alive as we screened 1,300 people at the local CHPS compounds. For many, it was their first health check in years an important step toward preventing disease and strengthening wellbeing.
At Toklokpo Basic School, change arrived in many forms. We constructed a new urinal facility so children no longer have to choose between discomfort and dignity. We installed three hand-washing stations to help learners build healthy habits that protect them from illness. We repainted and rehabilitated an entire classroom block, transforming tired walls into a brighter, safer space where students can learn and dream with confidence.
And in our work with pregnant women, we provided nutrition support that helps mothers stay healthy and bring new life into the world with strength and hope. For many of them, this project meant reassurance, knowledge, and the care they rarely have access to.
Each of these milestones reflects what drives us: the belief that every community deserves water, health, education, and the chance to thrive. And with every step forward, we continue to move closer to that vision.
